New Snow Forecasted for the Central Andes of Argentina & Chile!

Las Lenas ski resort in Argentina, Valle Nevado, Portillo & Ski Arpa in Chile are expecting new snowfalls for this weekend! This is the second snowfall and it is only early May. Forecasters predict a foot of fresh snow between Saturday and Sunday.

Snow has arrived to the Andes!

It is expected to receive some early snow dusts in the Andes during the months of April and May. If it snows hard by the end of May we feel it will be a fantastic ski season.

But it is only early May and the Andes Mountains already received a really good first snowfall. Las Lenas ski resort located in the Argentinean Central Andes received several inches while Valle Nevado ski resort in Chile got a nice deal of snow.

Other ski resorts both in Argentina and Chile also received snow. We will upload new information as soon as we receive it. Stay tuned!

Valle Nevado Ski Resort - New Lifts for 2010!

After the devastating earthquake that affected most of Southern Chile, Valle Nevado continues with its expansion plan and the new lifts construction is on the way.

Two new lifts in the Valle del Inca area area being built at the moment and will be fully operational for the upcoming 2010 ski season!

One of the lifts will be a double chair located in the Ballicas run and the second one will be a surface Poma lift. This one will be placed close to the Valle del Inca lift reaching the highest point in the mountain and accessing a fantastic back bowl and great lines!

Thanks to these two new lifts there will be 5 new intermediate and advanced trails in Valle Nevado! And based on location and altitude the snow conditions at this new runs will be excellent.

After a tough 2009 year news like these are fantastic. We hope other ski areas in South America follow Valle Nevado´s lead and start making new and larger investments to their lift system.

Puma Lodge construction update

After pouring foundations several weeks ago Puma Lodge continues its construction process and the first walls are already in place.

We are happy to announce the recent quake and several aftershocks did not affect the construction in any way so the process continues at full speed.

The access road is also in perfect condition and only a few rocks had released onto the surface.

The Puma Lodge will be finished next November 2010 and guests will enjoy the most exclusive heli-ski lodge ever built in South America.
